The Friendship of Faith and Science In the Bible, faith is contrasted with sight, not with science. In fact, the more we know about science, the more it screams for the necessity of an intelligent outside agent. Not every dead body becomes part of a crime scene. We serve a gracious and merciful God. He gives every man enough faith to save himself. “For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.” —Romans In fact, I suggest you completely ban the phrase “leap of faith” from your vocabulary. Biblical faith is based on knowledge, not wishing or blind leaps. Knowledge builds confidence and confidence leads to trust. The kind of faith God is interested in is not wishing. It’s trust based on knowing, a sure confidence grounded in evidence.’. I trust I have now sufficiently shown how man's only resource for escaping from the curse of the law, and recovering salvation, lies in faith; and also what the nature of faith is, what the benefits which it confers, and the fruits which it produces. The whole may be thus summed up: Christ given to us by the kindness of God is apprehended and possessed by faith, by means of which we obtain. God created marriage as a loyal partnership between one man and one woman. Marriage is the firmest foundation for building a family. God designed sexual expression to help married couples build intimacy. Marriage mirrors God’s covenant relationship with His people. We see this last parallel throughout the Bible. Such faithfulness or a life of faith is characteristic of those justified in God’s sight. God’s word of truth establishes man’s way of truth or faithfulness. The Believer is entrusted with the duty of being faithful personally and faithfully responsible to carry out his office (1 Chron ; 2 Chron ).
